Round 1 passed seven of nine (Dave, 2026-09-12). Two notes, built in here: a round picture of you on the minimal board, and a small one beside the business card on the thank-you. The picture is a round photo print pinned to the board, white border, black and white, so it is one more thing on the board and not Style 1’s ring. The string on BD-string, which Dave named a favorite, now runs straight from pin center to pin center and stays on the cork, off the paper. And the favicon on every note: the kit icon, small, navy, in the bottom corner of the index card on all nine. "That's that extra touch."
Seeded from Brett's community-board, number 93 on his board, whose rebuild you read as more of the same. It was. This starts from what a board is: the board is the whole ground, cork in a wood frame or felt with a metal edge, and two or three things are pinned to it at slight angles, each its own object with its own paper and its own shadow. An index card carries the line. A photograph, a strip with a count, a manila tag with the county. You are a business card pinned in the corner, and that is where the mark lives, once, navy on white. Its own type: a marker for the line, a hand for the labels, plain sans for the body.
What every one of them already does. One mark, on the business card. The watermark on the board. The line on two lines on the index card, the paragraph under it, the red hand line under that, the favicon in the card’s corner. Your name, credential and phone on the card. Nine ways below, each isolating one thing: the board's surface, the line's face, how many things are pinned, what holds them. Pass or note each by name.
The board
BD-corkCork in a wood frame. The card, the photo, the tag, the business card. Red pins. The baseline.BD-feltDark green felt with an aluminum edge, the same four things, the watermark in white.BD-navyNavy felt. Color is a parameter; any felt, any frame.
The line and the things
BD-kalamThe line in a softer hand instead of the marker.BD-threeThe card and a strip carrying the count. A count, never a price.BD-oneThe minimal board: one big card, your round print, and the business card.
The holders and the jobs
BD-stringRed string from pin to pin, straight, center to center, the way a case board does it. The pins it ties sit on the board, so the string never crosses the paper.BD-thanksThe thank-you: a handwritten card beside the photo of the porch, on burgundy felt, a small round print of you beside the business card.BD-tapeEverything taped instead of pinned.
